Pincher Creek Community Adult Learning Program Moving!
Press Release April 10th, 2019

Pincher Creek Community Adult Learning Program is very excited to announce their move to the Community Education Wing, 972 Police Ave, Pincher Creek. The newly renovated space is under the roof of the Pincher Creek United Church, with the Adult Learning private entrance just south of the Thrift Store entrance.

The move represents an opportunity for Pincher Creek CALP to continue to grow its vision to serve all barriered learners by facilitating lifelong learning. The new space has excellent wheelchair access, parking, wifi throughout, classroom spaces, childcare room as well as access to a beautiful kitchen and hall for larger scale food-based literacy programming for foundational learners.

The new space at the Community Education Wing is only a couple of buildings east of CALP's current location just south of the Post Office. Staff anticipates little disruption to the ongoing Potential Best Program, Learner's License Prep class, Blackfoot language classes, GED Upgrading program, technology tutoring, Post Secondary Exam supervision, and English Language tutoring. Both the CALP and United Church board are excited for the opportunity to share such a functional community based space. The move is planned for the beginning of May, there will be a celebratory Open House this coming fall. Thank you to the United Church Board for their vision to open their doors to non-profit community organizations. Pincher Creek CALP looks forward to continued high quality programming for foundational learners in a safe, welcoming and sustainable space.

NEWS RELEASE, MAY 15, 2018 PINCHER CREEK COMMUNITY ADULT LEARNING PROGRAM

It's finally Spring, a new opportunity to start fresh and work towards goals. The Pincher Creek Community Adult Learning Council would like to celebrate and acknowledge the hard work of our Learners in the past year. We are honoured to share that 5 Learners have achieved their High School Diplomas through our Learner Support Services program. 18 community members have registered for their GED (Grade Equivalency Diploma), several of whom have connected with ongoing Tutor support at our downtown Pincher Creek location. Over 30 Learners courageously graduated from the Potential Best-8 week experience. This program focuses on supporting and connecting Learners as they transition through new learning and employment goals.

Our Learners inspire each other, their Instructor's, and their families. They serve as role models and motivate the work of the Pincher Creek Community Adult Learning Council and Staff. Congratulations to each one of you, we wish you every happiness on your continued learning journey!

We have identified two key needs for our existing and potential clients: the ability to navigate financial resources for continued learning, as well as understanding what the next steps are for pursuing further learning. We are currently creating a new workshop to be released this fall that will provide Adults with a toolkit for understanding student funding applications, locating transcripts, mature learner high-school credits, and identifying interests and new learning goals. Watch our facebook page for dates and times or give us a call at 403-627-4478!

PC CALP now invigilates (supervises) exams with 17 Post-Secondary Institutions and can also support learning journeys through upgrading from grade 4-9, High school and beyond through on-site classes, distance support and tutoring. Learners can access support and connect with distance learning opportunities through one of the schools listed below. Support is also available to help locate transcripts, navigate computer challenges, connect with scholarships and access online applications.
